そのみ名は聖、

聖なるそのみ名。

And His mercy is on the that fear Him
throughout all generations.
その憐れみは主を畏れ敬う人に、
世世に限りなく。

He hath shewed strength with His arm;
He hath scattered the proud
in the imagination of their hearts.
主はみ腕の力をふるい、
おごれる者を打ち散らします、
その心おごり高ぶる者を。

He hath put down
the mighty from their seat.

and hath exalted the humble and meek
また主は引き下ろされます、
権力ある人をその座から。
そして謙遜で柔和な人を高く引きあげます。

He hath filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich He hath sent empty away.
主は飢えた人を良いもので満たされ、
富んでいる人には何も持たせずに追い返されます。

He remembering His mercy
hath holpen His servant Israel,
主はその憐れみをお忘れにならず、
しもべイスラエルを助けられました。*1

as He promised to our forefathers,
Abraham and his seed for ever,
for ever.
わたしたちの父祖に約束されたように、

アブラハムとその子孫にとこしえに、*2
限りなく。

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost;
栄光は父と、
子と、
聖霊に、

as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
はじめのように
今も、そしてとこしえに

world without end,
Amen.
世々に限りなく、

*1 創世記に登場するイスラエル十二氏族の始祖。大胆で狡猾な性格ながら、妻妾及びその息子たちの争いに悩まされた。元の名はヤコブだったが、神と格闘しその祝福を得たのでイスラエル（神の勝者）に改名した。「見よ、わたしはあなたと共にいる。あなたがどこへ行っても、わたしはあなたを守り、必ずこの土地に連れ帰る。わたしは、あなたに約束したことを果たすまで決して見捨てない」（創世記28:15）
*2 同じく創世記に登場する始祖で、イスラエルの祖父。その信仰心を認められ、「あなたを豊かに祝福し、あなたの子孫を天の星のように、海辺の砂のように増やそう」（創世記22:17）という誓いを受ける。
